Those of you who have been with me awhile would know that my sister, Alyssa Robbins, is dead. And perhaps you know I discovered today: that there is now Another Alyssa Robbins who plays contemporary folk in New York City!

I was adding artwork to my albums in iTunes, and was searching online for photos of my sister to use, when I came upon this google: Alyssa Robbins... chick with a guitar. Well, I certainly hadn’t put that up, and ahem Alyssa certainly didn’t, so I assumed some of her friends had, as a sort of memorial for Alyssa Robbins, like the place I go to think about her.

So, I click that link, and there’s an Alyssa Robbins on guitar, playing folk, in New York, just like my Alyssa Robbins. But she is not my Alyssa Robbins!

So I downloaded the Other Alyssa Robbins’ music, and listened, and enjoyed it, though frankly it is really difficult to listen to someone else with the same name as my dead sister making music. Seeing her name on iTunes paired with a different voice simply made me queasy.

And realizing that I share google’s first page with Another Christopher Robbins in New York doing Educational Multimedia kinda frightens me in a Twilight Zone/ The Ring sort of way.

Other Discoveries, William Shatner rocksme again! (and notice how usually I put punctuation outside of links, because usually a comma or full-stop has nothing to do with the link itself. Well, in this case, that exclamation makr has everything to do with that link, so it’s in there!

comments:
My daughter's name also is Alyssa Robbins. She HAS a guitar she plays around with, but her real passion is the violin. She also plays the drums and recorder. But she is only 12, and we're in California.
Sorry to hear about your sister's passing.
