Perhaps you recall that
little ruined island-nation called Nauru that has
such a place in my heart?... Well, after being
stripped of its major natural resource, filled with
refugees and perhaps even nuclear waste, it has now caught the eye of a Japanese artist named Jun Shibata as

stealth-bomber shaped sculpture as placeless invisible island in
White Box’s Another Expo:

Also worth checking out is
Ines Pais’ Chixuania Series, less for the photos themselves or the self-impressed Oh What I Have Learned From Traveling schtick (sp?), but more for the inspired chutzpah of attempting to mail packages (returned undelivered and on display in the gallery) and
hitchhike (!) to her own make-believe city.
