So, Shelly and I were at the market Saturday, and we are buying, what was it — a meat tenderizer mallet and a cheese grater — from this pepetually smiling old guy with like 5 or 6 teeth in his mouth. And when it comes time to pay, he realizes that we are not Serbian.

“Something something serbianski?”

I guess what he is saying and answer, “No, no. I mean, nema, nema.”

“Some thing Something soemthing?”

Guessing again, I respond “New York.”

His eyes widen “Amerikanski!”

“Yes! I mean Da!” I answer.

To which he responds, “Amerika Boom Boom!” making explosion signs with his hands. And then he waggles his finger at us and says “Tsk tsk tsk.”
