These are the notes for the Audio Session of TEPFlashClass.
Download your Audio Script template here.
In each of the TEP02 constructions, the student will have the option to listen to the text of each step. Therefore, audio will be recorded for each step in each construction. In this project, we will do this in two steps:
- Temporary audio: each person will use portable microphones (or whatever) to record audio for each step in their construction, and then include this audio in their Flash file. The purpose of this step is to provide you with a "feel" for what the student will see before the final audio is recorded.
- Final audio: after all of the Flash animations are completed, Maraia will record final audio in the Media Centre audio studio based on the audio scripts.
Purpose of an audio script
An audio script is a document used to ensure that correct audio is recorded for the project. Each construction will have its own corresponding audio script. This audio script will provide the name and text of each audio piece required for the construction.
The audio scripts will be used during the testing phase of the project, when they will be checked for accuracy against the Flash files and they will be updated to reflect any modifications.
After the testing, two copies of the scripts will be given to Maraia for her use in recording the final audio. Waiting until after the testing phase to record the final audio saves time by minimising re-recordings.
Steps for creating a TEP02 audio script
- Download the audio script template (a MSWord document)
- Fill in the construction name, the example name, your name, and the date (in the document header)
- Create the proper number of rows in the table to correspond to the number of steps in your construction
- Fill in the first column with the step numbers 1, 2, 3, …
- Fill in the second column with the audio names. An audio name is the two-letter code for your construction, plus the step number, with no space in between. For example, the audio name for the audio corresponding to the second step of the Bisecting a Line construction is BL2.
The audio names are the names that will be given to the individual audio files for each bit of text. Each audio name in the entire project will be unique.
- Fill in the third column with the text. This should correspond exactly to the text column on your storyboard and to the text you have entered in each step in your animation.
