You will need the template to do this session. If you do not have the template, you can
download the template here. (Right click/ control click and choose save as...) Be sure to follow the TepConventions.
To save, choose file >> save as...
Select the Example Layer at Step_1 in the timeframe:

Then double click the top Example text to edit it:

Once you are finished, we will not be making any more changes to the Example layer. It is a good idea to lock that layer by clicking the dot in the column labelled with a lock in the Example Layer:

Select the Steps layer at Step_1 in the timeframe, and double click the step text at the bottom to edit it:

Click in the Steps layer at the Step_2 label in the timeline:

From the top menu, choose Insert >> Keyframe:

You'll see a black dot appear to indicate you have created a new keyframe. Click the new keyframe you have created. This should be in the Steps layer, at the frame labeled Step_2 on the timeline. Double click the step text at the bottom to edit your text.

Click in the Steps layer at the Step_3 label in the timeline. Then choose Insert >> Keyframe. You'll see a black dot appear to indicate you have created a new keyframe. Click the new keyframe you have created. This should be in the Steps layer, at the frame labeled Step_3 on the timeline. Double click the step text at the bottom to edit your text.
All frame labels and actions should be inserted in the Top Most Layer, the one called Layer 1. So, click in the Layer 1 selecting a spot on the timeline somewhere to the right of the Step_3 label:

Choose Insert >> Keyframe from the menu on top.
Now, select the keyframe you have just inserted:

If you have Flash MX
In the Panel towards the bottom of your screen, click the area called <Frame Label> and type in the name for this frame: Step_4. It is important that you follow this exact naming convention, Capital S in Step followed by an underscore (_) before the number. Step_4

If you cannot find this panel in Flash MX, choose Window>>Properties and it should appear:

If you have Flash 5
Click the Frame Panel and type in Step_4 where it says Label. It is important that you follow this exact naming convention, Capital S in Step followed by an underscore (_) before the number. Step_4

If you cannot find the Frame Panel, select Window>>Panels>>Frame and it should appear:

For both Flash 5 and Flash MX the frame label Step_4 has appeared in the correct place, the topmost layer called Layer 1

You should be able to change the text for Step 4, and add all further Step labels by following the insurctions.
